The Friars Beyond the Veil

Before the veil opened, Fray Zacharias “Czyre” de San Andrés and Fray Elias “Elai” de Santo Domingo were two Dominican friars serving in a quiet church compound filled with ancient books, Spanish-era records, and sealed archive rooms. Czyre is imaginative, curious, and brave enough to believe that some mysteries are more than stories. Elai is analytical, protective, and skilled in old texts, forgotten records, Latin writings, and historical manuscripts. During a storm, a damaged manuscript connected to a friar who disappeared centuries ago reveals a warning beside the image of a broken moon. Then the old church bell rings on its own. A doorway opens and pulls the brothers into Veyratha—a world of dragons, wizards, ruined kingdoms, forbidden magic, and two territories preparing for war. Aurethia is a kingdom of scholars, towers, wizards, and royal magic. Dravorn is a highland territory of dragon riders, warrior clans, and ancient fire-bonds. In this unfamiliar world, the friars’ old names sound like prophecy, while their Latin is mistaken for an ancient sacred tongue. Both sides believe Czyre and Elai may hold the key to victory. But the brothers were not brought to Veyratha to help one kingdom destroy another. They must uncover the truth behind a broken prophecy before two worlds repeat the same mistake. As Czyre forms an unexpected bond with the noble dragon Rhaevor and Elai follows the truth hidden in language and history, the brothers face magical danger, ancient conflict, and choices that test their courage, faith, understanding, and loyalty to each other.
